Spiritual Hunger

It is very  important to have spiritual hunger. You can’t be too satisfied that you don’t want any more. You need to seek God desperately. The Bible reveals different kinds of desperation.

            1) Crawling desperation

            2) Crying desperation

            3) Wrestling desperation

            4) Overcoming your obstacles

4- Are you desperate enough to overcome your obstacles to see Jesus?

Luke 19:1-10 tells us about a man named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus desperately wanted to see Jesus, but his height was hindering him from doing so. Because of his desperation, “he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Him, since Jesus was coming that way.” Zacchaeus’s height was hindering him from seeing Jesus, but he was able to overcome it. He did his part by climbing the tree then Jesus said to him that He will be in his house on that day. What is your obstacle that is hindering you from seeing Jesus?  Just like Zacchaeus, we must first do our part then God will surely do His part. It doesn’t matter what your past is. It doesn’t even matter what your present situation is. When you seek Him, He steps right in.

5-  2 Kings 2:1-10 tells us about Elisha receiving a double portion of Elijah’s spirit once Elijah was taken away. Elisha stayed with Elijah until the end. No matter what happened or what people said to him, he stayed with him until God took Elijah away. At the end, Elisha was rewarded for with a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. Now the question is, are you desperate enough leave everything you got for God, like Elisha did? By leaving everything you got, you don’t really lose anything because remember, when pay day comes, it comes in double portion!

Now how do you become desperate? The answer is BE HUNGRY! If you are a spiritually healthy person, then you will be hungry for God, just like a healthy person constantly gets hungry for food. What messes up your health is sickness. Likewise, what messes up your spiritual health is sin! Every believer has a spiritual hunger if they are healthy. Therefore, seek God constantly and be hungry for him.
