Faithfulness
August 19, 2007 The main qualification to
be in the ministry and to serve God is to be FAITHFUL! Be faithful with
everything that God has given you or put you in. You might be involved in
choir, in worship, or even setting up and collecting chairs. Despite how
small or simple your responsibility may seem, God gave it to you for a
reason so be faithful to it. Unless you are faithful with the little God has
entrusted you with, how could he trust you with anything bigger. Not only
are we responsible to be faithful in the jobs we're assigned or in the
ministry we're in, we must also be faithful in reading the Word, in praying,
tithing, and also staying faithful to our promises. If we say that we will
do something, then we must do it no matter what it is. It's important to
stay true to our words and the promises we make because Proverbs tells us to
keep our oath, even if it hurts. Don't be concerned with
what you don't have. Don't be concerned about giving God something big. Just
give Him what you have, no matter how big or small. One person's ministry
might seem so big and it might seem that they are serving God more than
anyone but really if you stay faithful to what God has put you in, no matter
how small it may seem, you are serving God just the same. Remember that you are not
faithful by your own ability, you're faithful with the help of the Holy
Spirit. It might seem so hard and so frustrating in the beginning but if you
continue to stay faithful, He will give you abundant grace to keep going.
All you need to do is take whatever you got and present it to God. You just
have to take the first step and then God will give you amazing grace you
can't even imagine. Understand that whatever we're called to do, we do it by
His power. We cannot do anything by our own power so we must rely on His
grace. Always remember His grace so you won't fall into legalism. You do
what you do and you stay faithful to whatever it is that He has put you in
because of the Holy Spirit who lives inside of you, not because of yourself.
